About the Artist

A drive to redefine the relationship between light and layering is the basis of Gale Hayman’s work. This analytic focus on depth and translucency, as well as colors of complement and complexity, is a skill she has dedicated herself to since her early 20’s — working from photography to pastel to, now, paint and pencil drawings. Although her art is the main harbor of her spiritual practice, it has not been the primary focus of her professional career. Due to this, Gale’s work can be analyzed by developments and changes in her technique, theme, and type of medium.

Gale’s work focuses on iterating and redefining the relationship between chaos and harmony. These dynamics are scalable. Dissonance and consonance can be seen both through the work at large, and through closer and closer inspection of the layers and transitions throughout.
